Tonight, to my delight, I managed to get in my waist stay, pink my
remaining seams, and sew in my first hand picked zipper...oh, and
finish my first self fabric belt. I got a lot done! All that remains
is to tack facings and hem the skirt. Here is a little teaser photo of
my dress, because after all of that work I am going to FINISH and do
some proper styling, not pose without make up next to a sink full of
dirty dishes like I usually do! I am excited to share though!
ooohhhh, this is going to be good! That fabric is so gorgeous! Hurry up and put your make up on lady! Wanna see!

Thanks! I finished, hem and all, around midnight last night- but it is so cold out, I don't know how I'll get photos! I'll try tomorrow!
ReplyDeletethe fabric's amazing. Just had a look at the finished dress - well done! So special!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Gwen. It was a labor of love, and I am pleased with the details. I think you will find it interesting that my husband's grama, who the fabric belonged to, was a garment sewer who worked in a pants factory her entire life. I felt a responsibility to try and sew something special with her fabric.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely way to keep her memory alive!
