So I entered some of my undies in a contest...

...wait, that doesn't sound right. It was a sewing contest. And it was for lingerie made during the Ooh La La Lingerie Sew Along hosted by Ohhh Lulu and A Few Threads Loose. Or for lingerie made now...in case you  didn't take pics of your undies back then and don't want to photograph them now that you've been wearing them. Speaking of which, why am I shameless about posting up pics of undies I have never worn? It doesn't bother me one bit, while I'd never want to show the inside of my underwear drawer. Underwear philosophy. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

So. I was thinking you might like to go vote for your favorite lingerie, right? Okay, please? I could win some cool stuff! Like, pattern stuff. For more sewing. Yeah! I have two entries in the bra section (which I am not going to win- mine were bo-ring) and I have 18, 19, and 20 in the panties section.

My favorites are the hipsters I made by folding the high waist pattern down a bit. There is another pair pictured in my Craftsy project here. I love the high waisted Betty panties for wearing with dresses (no hip chub dig), but in my daily life I end up wearing jeans a lot, and we can't have our unders sticking out of the tops of our jeans, now can we? So I made these, and they are a great fit and very comfy.

So, shamelessly, I ask you to go vote for my underwear here. Thanks. Have a nice day.

A Few Final Slipper Pics

I just wanted to share a few pics of my doll's ruby slippers after I finished them up the day she got them. She wore them around for a few hours, and on a full night's rest I was ready to throw on the final details I had been too tired for the night before. Here they are on my favorite feet....

I stitched a simple rectangle, pleated it, tacked it, and hot glued it to her slipper. I hot glued a plastic ruby on top, and BAM, instant bling. Yes, she refuses to take that square dance dress off except for bed, so it is going frequently through the wash cycle.

Here are the other posts 1 and 2 in case you want to make some for your girl and wanted pattern info or to see them without the bow bling. And, that's all!

Dorothy is Happy...

And that makes me happy! She skipped all over the house this morning when she found her ruby slippers, which I left where she could discover them. The excited "Oh, those are ruby slippers! Thank you!" made my whole day.

Her thrifted square dancing dress and purple tutu complete the look :) Although I think I still have some blue and white check fabric in my stash....

And here's a preview of me trying to get her to take them off for bed tonight......

There's No Place Like Home

My little girl is pretty obsessed with The Wizard of Oz as of late. She doesn't find any of it scary, and she loves the characters and songs, of course.

After she went to bed tonight, I sewed her up her own little reminder that there's no place like home.
I made them using fabric salvaged from a ruby colored sequined child's vest I found at Goodwill today for $2, and lined them with scraps from my Matron of Honor Dress. I also used some Jiffy No Slip Sole fabric on the soles so she won't slip around in them. The pattern is the Kasey Mary Jane shoe from I Think Sew, and they went together easily. The only trouble I had was my own silly mistake because I was getting tired.

Does this make me a good witch??

They'll be waiting for our girl in the morning, and I know she'll love them!

Make it Better Yourself- Bagels

Tonight, I made bagels for the first time. I started around 8 P.M., and we now have 40 (- a few) fresh bagels in the kitch. It was easy, it was cheap, and they are delicious!

I made them small for portion control, and I topped some with garlic, onion, and salt and others with sugar and cinnamon. If you'd like to give it a go, you can find the recipe and instructions I used here. I doubled the recipe and plan on freezing half of them....if I don't sit on the floor of the kitchen with a stick of butter and devour them all myself before the hubby and kid wake up. Ha ha! I kid! I think?!?!
